“Don’t be afraid of the word ‘Canadian’?” says the spammer.
This is not some bizarre reference to the South Park song ‘Blame Canada’. Could the message be suggesting that canadian products are inferior in quality? Has anyone tasted better maple syrup than that from Canada? But this social engineering technique is making reference to drugs being cheaper in canada.
When people ask me how to stop this and other spam messages, besides saying “buy Sophos”. I reply “Spam is a socio-economic problem and while technological solutions will mitigate it. The only way to stop spam is socio-economic”. Then I add “Spammers send spam to make money. If they never sell anything then they will find it uneconomic to send spam. To stop spam never buy spamvertised products.”
