At SophosLabs the question often arises as to why so many people would dedicate so much of their time authoring malware. In a sample we recently received, we get a glimpse into the mindset of a budding “Virri” creator via an HTML page left on the hard drive.
These so-called “new kind of tricks” are old hat technology and have posed no problem for modern anti-virus engines. His masterpiece to show his “power of programming” is a bloated and poorly constructed program, even for a VB application. Nope, I think only the small boys will do that.
To commemorate the efforts of the author, we detect this sample as W32/VBLame-B.
