Anti-spam product testing

Last week, while I was at the Virus Bulletin Conference in Ottawa I attended a couple of meetings on ‘Anti-spam product testing’. The meetings were scheduled to coincide with the conference because the union of the attendees would be high. Both meetings discussed similar issues and one of the questions raised was ‘What criteria should be tested/compared?’. I am of the opinion that any tests should be relevant to customers. Given that:

  • Catch Rate
  • False Positive rate

are already tested. What other criteria of an anti-spam solution would you like tested? Would you like

  • performance
  • Catch rate break down
  • etc
