Sophos will be out in force at the RSA Conference in San Francisco next week, giving you the opportunity to see our products in action and meet (amongst others) bloggers Paul Ducklin, Chet Wisniewski and err.. me.
Topically enough, considering everything that has been going on this week, I'll be giving presentations and demonstrations about threats on social networks.
Sophos is a Gold Sponsor of the RSA 2010 Conference and can be found exhibiting its wares on booth #1817. That's in the front, near the centre - and that's where you'll find me, Duck and Chet most of the time giving presentations and chatting merrily away about all things info-security.
In addition, some of us will be taking the stage to pontificate more formally. Here's a quick summary of where else (other than the booth) you can catch us:
"Anti-Virus Is Dead!" - Demonstration and Presentation
Speaker: Paul Ducklin, Head of Technology, Asia Pacific Sophos
When: Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 8:00am PT
Where: Orange Room 301
Session Code: END-201
Session Description: Anti-virus is dead -- industry analysts say so. They have a point, since it is inherently reactive, and doomed by undecidability. Yet anti-virus is clearly alive, since it is still effective against the latest threats. Using a live demo, disassembling and debugging real malware, this session reveals the history of the arms race between malware creators and defenders, and explains how security problems, which are uncomputable in theory, can nevertheless be effectively solved.
"Web 2 Woe: Cybercrime on Social Networks"
Speaker: Graham Cluley, Senior Security Consultant, Sophos
When: Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 1:00pm PT
Where: Blue Room 102
Session Code: HT1-204
Session Description: Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace are increasingly the target for financially-motivated hackers, as more cybercriminals put the hundreds of millions of captive users in their sights. Their intention? To infect computers, spread spam, seize profiles and commit identity theft. This session covers how attacks have continued to evolve, how social networking sites are trying to defend against exploitation, and what companies and people can do to better defend themselves.
"Change is Gonna Come: How CISOs Best Adapt to Major Shifts in IT"
- Steve Munford, CEO, Sophos
- Samuele Ghelfi, CISO, Raymond James Financial
- Jonathan Penn, VP of Research, Forrester
When: Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 9:10am PT
Where: Green Room 123
Session Code: SPO1-302
Session Description: Regardless of company size, customers face the same storm of IT consumerization, data loss, breaches, regulations and business complexity. While enterprise IT teams learn to adapt to these changes, so must the security vendors they count on most. This panel discussion will analyze latest business demands that create new challenges for IT and how to leverage technology and vendor partnerships so that IT can get the biggest bank for their buck.
We look forward to seeing you at the show!
