    Thank you so much for this article. I'm sending a link to this page to everyone I know. Luckily I do not own a cell phone and have not yet mastered the digital camera I was gifted. But will definitely learn how to remove any data attached to photos I take with it. Had no idea this was even possible.

      Most digital cameras don't collect geolocation data, so will be fine. Some higher end ones do, however. Most of the data that is stored covers the camera used, and various settings, which can be useful for you if you want to go back and find out how you did something. I've never used that, however!

    It doesn't know where MY cats live, even though I post them to Instagram with the hashtag #cats all the time. Maybe my phone is not geotagging my photos. I've never checked...

      You might want to check, just because you can. Remember that the photos in the montage are a modest and randomly chosen subset...
